The Plateia program
The Plateia program offers social and cultural activities to support well-aged Greek people maintain their culture and language.
If you are looking for the fellowship or other Greek speaking people then this Plateia may be just the choice for you.
The program focuses on social connection, and old fashioned fun – enjoy the company of others with a background of Greek music; and maybe also join in with Greek singing and dancing.
Our program operates every month and is generally held at either the Floreat Athena Football Club, or the Alexander the Great centre in Inglewood.
Plateia also offers visits in August, and also at Easter and Christmas, to St John of the Mountain Greek Orthodox Monastery in Forrestfield. The Monastery is set in natural bushland and is a special place of rural tranquility and spiritual reflection.
Visits to St John of the Mountain Monastery are especially popular.
The Monastery site is designed to reflect traditional elements of Greek villages with its beautiful Church and sacred icons, olive grove, orchard and vegetable gardens. Many of our participants tell us that these visits bring back lots of happy memories by reminding them of their former homes.
